How Fast Can You Type?
Ten free typing tests and trainers with live WPM, accuracy and CPM tracking on every keystroke. No sign-up, no downloads — click a test, start typing, and watch your speed climb.
Tip: TypingKit works best with a physical keyboard. On a phone or tablet, tap a typing box to bring up your keyboard — a real keyboard will always give a fairer score.
No tools match that search. Try “speed”, “code”, “race” or “drill”.
Typing Speed Test
The classic WPM test: type the passage before the clock runs out and get your words per minute, accuracy and characters per minute. Perfect for students, job seekers and anyone who wants one honest number for their typing speed.
Click the box and start typing — the timer starts on your first keystroke. Wrong keys turn red; Backspace fixes them.
1-Minute Sentence Sprint
Race through as many complete sentences as you can in exactly 60 seconds — the next sentence appears the moment you finish one. Great for building rhythm and flow, with a streak counter that rewards flawless sentences.
Click and type. Finish a sentence with zero mistakes to grow your streak — one wrong key breaks it.
Numbers & Symbols Test
A 30-second test built from dates, prices, order codes, phone numbers and percentages instead of plain words. Ideal practice for data-entry jobs, cashiers, bookkeepers and anyone whose work lives on the number row.
Click and type the string exactly as shown — every digit, comma and symbol counts.
Accuracy Trainer
An untimed passage that only moves forward when you press the right key — mistakes cannot slip through, you must fix them on the spot. Finish it to see your true accuracy and a report of the keys you miss most, so you know exactly what to practice.
A wrong key will not advance the text — the box shakes until you find the right one. No clock, no pressure.
Keys you missed most:
Code Typing Test
Type real, short JavaScript or Python snippets — brackets, quotes, operators and all — and get WPM and accuracy measured on code, not prose. Built for programmers who want faster, cleaner keystrokes in the editor.
Type the snippet exactly, including indentation. Press Enter at the end of each line to move to the next.
Custom Text Practice
Paste any text — study notes, a speech, song lyrics, a tricky paragraph from work — and it instantly becomes your typing test. Ideal when you want to practice the exact words you actually need to type well.
Press Start practice, click here, and type your text. Line breaks become spaces.
Home Row Drills
Beginner lessons that build touch-typing muscle memory one keyboard row at a time — home row first, then top and bottom rows. Perfect if you are just starting out or still hunting for keys with your eyes.
Keep your fingers resting on the row and your eyes on the screen — no peeking at the keys!
Typing Race vs Bot
Race a computer typist over one paragraph, at a pace you choose — a steady 30, a brisk 50, or a speedy 70 WPM. Watch both progress bars live and see if your fingers can reach the finish line first.
Press Start race, then type — the bot starts moving on your first keystroke.

About TypingKit
TypingKit is a free typing gym for students, job seekers, office workers and programmers across the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. Every tool runs entirely in your browser with per-keystroke tracking — correct keys turn lime, mistakes turn red, and your WPM is calculated with the standard formula: (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes typed.
How WPM works
One “word” equals five correct characters, including spaces. Type 200 correct characters in one minute and you score exactly 40 WPM — the average adult speed, and a great first target.
Accuracy beats speed
Employers and tests care about clean typing. Our Accuracy Trainer forces you to fix every mistake, which builds the muscle memory that makes real speed possible.
Private by design
There are no accounts and nothing you type is uploaded anywhere. Tests, scores and certificates are generated on your own device, in this tab only.
